As the name suggests, Australian Black Opal is majorly found in Australia. It alone accounts for 95-97% supply of the world’s total Opal production. Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia have the biggest Black Opal field and are the top mining sites. Lightning Bridge in New South Wales is famous for producing the darkest and most valuable form of Black Opal.
The United States also contributes to Opal Production. Nevada has the most Black Opal mining fields. Czech Republic, Canada, Slovakia, Hungary, Turkey, Indonesia, Brazil, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua are some other Black Opal producing countries across the globe.
