The Pink Opal is one of the first Rock Gems to be spewed from the earth’s core. This Gemstone formed from the combination of silica and water, much like what Sand-stones are, the Pink Opals too are from the same family. Peru Country is known to have the brightest and most impressive Pink Opal specimens, and it can also be found in other South American countries, the USA, and even Australia.
Opal’s name derives from the Roman word opalus which was emerged from the Greek opallios, meaning “to see a change of color.” It was a modification of the ancient Indian Sanskrit name drive for Opal, Upala, which meant “Precious Stone.”
This Opal obtains its color from trace amounts of included organic compounds known as quinine. The Opal range starts from, opaque to translucent and depending on how the Stone is cut the color will either be clear or show the Stone’s matrix and inclusions. Peruvian Opal is known as Andean Opal.
