Welcome to the World of Fossil Coral

Fossil Coral is a kind of Natural Stone formed by Ancient Corals. Its name has been derived from ‘Agatized Fossil Coral’ or ‘Agatized Coral’ because, during its development, the Coral remains were gradually Supplanted by the Agate, a Variety of Natural Chalcedony.

It shouldn’t be mixed up with an endangered or secured reef Coral or Valuable Coral. It is commonly a Variety of Agate rather than the coral due to the presence of Silicon Dioxide.

Coral Stones are mined and commercialized for their high Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, and Sodium content for producing health and Medication Supplements.

It is Additionally used in Industrial fertilizers and water chemical filters because it can eliminate the Polluting influences of the water.

It is formed & developed through the procedure of replacement. In this, the Calcium Carbonate is substituted by Silica.

The Presence of silica is somewhat shapeless to the thick form of Chalcedony. Thus the composition of Fossil Coral may Fluctuate because of the amount of mineral Content. Fossil Coral is harder than Valuable Coral.

Most Agatized Fossil Coral show a dull to waxy shine. Fossil Coral deposits are often utilized for the creation of health and medication Supplements due to their rich Calcium, Potassium, magnesium, and sodium composition.

Since Fossil Coral can expel chemical impurities such as Chlorine and formaldehyde it is used in industrial Fertilizers and water decontamination filters.

This Eminent specimen is part of a collection that was Generously given to the Florida Museum in 2008 by Gene Hamm and his group of High Springs, Florida.cc
